Barco loves films. That’s why we’re happy to support film festivals around the globe. One of our longest partnerships must be that with the Berlin International Film Festival (aka Berlinale) – one of the world’s biggest film festivals. We’re happy to sponsor this year’s edition too, from 9 to 19 February 2017.
Long-term cooperation
With around 300,000 tickets sold and 500,000 admissions, the Berlinale is considered the largest publicly attended film festival worldwide based on actual attendance rates. More than welcoming film lovers and stars of the big screen, the festival also organizes the European Film Market, which brings together over 9,000 professionals to build and foster contacts, strengthen their position in the industry or negotiate film rights.
Our partnership with the Berlinale started back in 2003, when the festival began preparations to go digital. We are proud of this long-term cooperation and keen to reconfirm our support for the 13th year in a row. This year, the Berlinale will be using five of our digital cinema projectors (1 x DP4K-23B and 4 x DP4K-32B) to screen films during the festival. Let the cinema magic begin!
